Case Study – Jim2® Business Engine in action
A.I.S. – Australian Innovative Systems (website) – A real world example on how to grow and become an international profit maker.
As your business takes on new staff, implements new processes and expands its operations, it’s important to have a robust business system that supports growth. If your goal is for your business to grow into a large enterprise, the best thing you can do is to start running it like one. This will help you improve productivity, cut costs and keep your business running smoothly.
Australian Innovative Systems (AIS) are specialists in water and waste water treatment. The AIS product range includes salt-water chlorine generators, in-line fresh water chlorine generators, onsite chlorine generators, activated anodes, and component parts for the chlor-alkali industry. They sell their products to councils and government, the mining and building industry, hotel chains and distributors in Australia.
Distribution and sales have been at the forefront of AIS’ growth since the change of management in 1992. During the past decade, AIS has expanded internationally, particularly in the field of commercial and resort swimming pools and water slide parks. Today the company has distributors throughout Australia as well as partners serving markets in Spain, Czech Republic, Russia, Ukraine, Middle East, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and South America.
AIS had been using accounting software, which had proven adequate for local operations. However, expanding offshore meant AIS required a more robust business system that combined accounting with workflow and operational information reporting.
AIS needed a system that could provide support with multiple foreign currency transactions, improved stock control and workflow management including serial number tracking and stock control. According to executive director, Elena Gosse, the previous system was time consuming and it could not provide the information management needed to identify the source and responsibility of operational roadblocks.
AIS approached Happen Business following a colleague’s recommendation about ERP software Jim2 Business Engine. Following initial testing, AIS quickly realised that Jim2 could provide it with more flexibility and accurate controls over its manufacturing processes.
With Jim2, not only can they calculate foreign currency exposure quickly each day, AIS has complete information about workflow operations from materials ordering, production, sales and marketing, through to shipping and delivery.
Jim2 Business Engine is the technology behind AIS that lets them trade efficiently across international borders.
Gosse said, “We thought migrating from MYOB to Jim2 would be impossible! But Happen Business showed us how easy it was going to be. Jim2 allows for accurate recording, documentation and tracking of overseas contracts. The multicurrency feature is so important for our invoicing.
“Jim2 helps us save time on administration work and concentrate on winning new business overseas.”
